MSA Board Meeting

Hello Fellow Shut-ins:

The Mattapoisett Shores Board met last Thursday, April 23rd and discussed the following three topics:

- Beach nourishment for 2020

- COVID and Planned Events

- Social Distancing rules for summer use of the beach.

First, this winter has been an unusually mild one, and the beach is in very good condition. The Board discussed whether the annual beach nourishment was necessary. We have bids in hand from three companies. It was decided to go back to the bidders and ask for a reduced nourishment plan that would involve roughly half of the usual sand. Mike Cahillane will be in contact with the contractors to negotiate the replenishment contract.

Secondly, not knowing when COVID restrictions will be lifted it was determined that prudent social distancing would dictate that the Annual Meeting be cancelled, to be held at a later date.  Similarly, the Annual Beach party will be cancelled as well. We welcome suggestions on the best dates to reschedule these events.

Finally, we are sure that the beach will be used this summer, but caution all members to still be aware of social distancing practices, as promulgated by the State. Here is a link to use as a guideline.  https://www.mass.gov/info-details/covid-19-prevention-and-treatment#latest-guidance-

Best wishes for a healthy and fun summer.

Thank You,

Ed Shea

Secretary
